About us

 

   "Multi Agro" company which is a part of "Multi" concern based in Kotayk region of Armenia, was founded in 2003 by merging two companies: "Nektar" scientific and production unit Apiculture research station of Kotayk region. The history of "Multi Agro" company goes back to 1989, by direct initiative and support of the deputy to National Assembly Gagik Tsarukyan, "Multi Agro" company was formed to develop the animal husbandry in the country with special emphasis on the breeds of animals which belong to the gene pool of the country.

Beginning 1989 the company has moved along the development pathway. The company is engaged in breeding cattle, sheep and horses.

The number of initially acquired 280 sheep has grown 2200-3000 at present. The growth is provided by reproduction and breeding of the initially obtained high quality breeds.

The number of initial 46 cattle heads has now grown to 680 cows of Caucasian Brown breed. The calves and heifers are sold to farmers of Armenia at 30% lower cost from market price.

Another relatively small area of interest for "Multi Agro" is horse breeding. The company has obtained and manages a horse herd of 52 English and Arabian horse crossbreeds.

One of the prominent production of "Multi Agro" company is the dairy production. About 8-10 tones of milk are processed in the dairy enterprise daily and produced more than 9 types of Armenian cheeses, sour creams and yogurts. The dairy enterprise of the company awarded with the 2nd Prize by the National Consumers Academy for high quality products.

Beekeeping and honey production is another branch "Multi Agro" pays the most serious attention to. The initial number of bee-hives in 2009 has grown to more than1000 from 171 in 2003. About 450 of the bee-colonies are organized in the southern region of Armenia - Syuniq, where breeding work is organized in the local research-experimental station to preserve and reproduce Yellow Bee of Meghri population.
